Land use has become a top priority for NAR, WRA
and RANW. In 2000, the Wisconsin State Legislature passed a comprehensive
"Smart Growth " Law. This law, led by WRA and a broad
coalition of trade associations and environmental groups and other
interested parties, requires EVERY County, Municipality and Regional
Planning Commission to have in place a Comprehensive Land Use Plan
by 2010. Without a doubt, Wisconsin's Smart Growth Law will have
dramatic implications for the real estate industry and real estate
professions. This site will keep you informed on communities currently
working through the 9 required elements of Smart Growth as well
as those communities seeking to apply for comprehensive land use
grants from the State.
If you are aware of a community either interested
in getting started with Smart Growth Planning or currently underway,
please contact RANW Government Affairs Director, Jennifer Sunstrom at
920.739.9108 or e-mail jsunstrom@ranw.org.
Are you interested in attending a community land
use meeting? Take this meeting
worksheet with you, fill it out at the meeting and send in to
RANW.
